Ministry of Health sends surgeons to boost attendance in Rondonia

Brasilia - After the government of Rondonia has declared a state of calamity in the state hospital system, the Ministry of Health has determined to send this week, a team of surgeons at the National Institute of Orthopedics and Traumologia (Into), connected to the ministry, help reduce the waiting list for orthopedic surgery.

Last week, technicians from the Civil Defense and the Ministries of Defence and Health in Rondonia were to assess the situation and identified a great demand for orthopedic surgeries. Another decision was to transfer 81 patients with orthopedic problems of John Paul II Hospital, the largest emergency department in the state, to other hospitals in Porto Velho and Ji-Parana.

According to the Ministry of Health, the governor Confucius Moura pledged to hire more professionals and change the structure of the Hospital John Paul II. The federal government reported that in December 2010, transferred R $ 16.5 million to the city hospital of Cacoal and to expand the supply of surgeries and examinations in units of capital.

The ministry also funds were released for the completion of three emergency care.
