Appointment for a mammogram

Mammography is the key consideration in screening and early diagnosis of breast cancer. Simple and fast, it's an x-ray of your breasts done using a "sénogragraphe. Mammography requires an average of two images of each breast, one front and one oblique. The radio is not painful, but the breast compression, necessary to obtain a full and readable, sometimes is.

A mammogram can also read how it goes? A mammogram, how often? Since 2003, women 50 to 74 are invited to a "mass screening for breast cancer": the women of this age enjoy every second year in a mammogram taken borne 100% by insurance. But many women, worried at the thought of having breast cancer, ask to make a first mammogram 40 years, even if everything seems normal for the examination.

Then, your gynecologist will tell you how often you practice mammography (every year or every 2 years) depending on the outcome of each shot and by history of breast cancer in your family. 2 good reasons to make a mammography: A very early cancer is likely to heal: a tumor of less than 1 cm healed in 80% more cancer cases detected early, the better your chances of keeping your breast.

Note: it is better to ultrasound after the rules when your breasts are "deflated", it will be less painful and the images are easier to read. With the collaboration of Dr. Alain Tamborini, gynecologist, author of "800 Questions to the gynecologist ed. Marabout.
